Truckee Literary Crawl Comes to COM - Friday April 10 and Saturday April 11
We’re thrilled to welcome the Truckee Literary Crawl to Church of the Mountains on April 10 and 11 for a festival that in total will host 67 authors, writers, and poets in 26 sessions in downtown Truckee. This is a one-of-a-kind, free celebration of writers and readers across the Truckee/Tahoe region. On Friday April 10 6-8pm Church of the Mountains will host a powerful and thought-provoking evening centered on storytelling, reflection, and connection titled “The Search for Belonging: Cults, Longing and Awakening.” This intimate gathering will feature author Priya Hutner, sharing from her memoir “Chasing Nirvana: A Seeker’s Story of Love, Loss, and Liberation,” alongside Blair Glaser, author of “This Incredible Longing.” Together, they’ll explore themes of belief, devotion, spiritual entrapment, and the courage it takes to reclaim one’s inner authority—topics that resonate deeply with anyone who has wrestled with questions of identity, faith, and belonging. The conversation will be moderated by Katherine Hill, co-founder of the Tahoe Literary Festival and publisher of Tahoe Guide, and will include a reading, audience Q&A, and book signing. Books will be available for purchase at the event. On Saturday, April 11 1-5pm, Church of the Mountains is one of the stops hosting select authors, writers, and poets from the Truckee/Tahoe region. Come out of the chilly weather and warm up to an afternoon of arts and culture! This event is free and open to all, and we warmly invite our community—and friends beyond it—to join us. Space is limited, so advanced registration is highly recommended at the link below. Come be part of an event that celebrates the power of story to illuminate, challenge, and connect us! Grow Our Mission as the Heart of Truckee: Join the Growing Together Campaign
Our church has always grown through the care and commitment of this community. Today, we invite you to be part of that tradition through our Growing Together Campaign, an effort to complete the renovation of the historic Sipes Parsonage. Located next to our church, the Sipes Parsonage has long been part of our campus and our story. The next phase of the renovation focuses on the exterior of the home, including new windows, updated siding, improvements to the back deck, and added insulation to protect and preserve the building for years to come. To help make this possible, we are looking for donors who feel called to support the project by giving a one-time gift of any amount or $100 per month for one year. These steady gifts will help us complete this important work and ensure the parsonage continues to serve our church and the Truckee community. Click on the button below to donate or visit our website. You can also send a check to Kathleen Zemaitis, Finance Chair, Church of the Mountains, PO Box 1209, Truckee CA 96160 or contact Kathleen at kathleen.zemaitis@gmail.com. (Church of the Mountains is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our Tax ID number is 94-2557398.) The Growing Together Campaign is about more than restoring a building — it’s about growing our community and investing in the future of our church at the heart of Truckee. We are grateful for your support as we work together to complete this meaningful project and grow together!
