Message from Pastor Rebecca
How do you engage Scripture? Some people read it. Some people sing it. Some people discuss it with others. Some people meditate on it all by themselves. I have done all the above, but one of my favorite ways to hear what Scripture has to say to me is to rephrase it in my own words for my own life. I used to do this while praying aloud the psalms, and then a few years ago started writing those paraphrases down. So far, I have written my way through a third of the psalter. This week, I share one of them with you in the hopes that you will incorporate more Scripture into your spiritual life and make the psalms your own. Here is my prayer/paraphrase of Psalm 8: Source of Life, Ground of Being, Lord of Love, How majestically we fail to name you! Even the heavens cannot tell your glory But the cry of a babe, the tear of an infant can call down your grace. When I think of the universe, the many worlds you’ve created, and the pale blue dot we live upon, what are human beings in the vastness of space? And why would humans of all beings be the special object of your grace? Yet you have formed us in your image, prepared us for your likeness made us the crown of Creation and put all your creatures in our care: the ones who live with us, the ones who die because of us, and the ones who can no longer survive without us. Help us! Source of Life, Ground of Being, Lord of Love, how essentially you are I AM for all the earth |

Thank You for Joining Our Visioning Session
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us after worship on Sunday, August 10, for our Visioning Session. What a meaningful time it was to reflect on who we are as a church and listen for where God is calling Church of the Mountains in the seasons ahead. Your openness, hopes, and dreams shared that day will help shape the future of our ministry, community outreach, and spiritual life. We are especially grateful for the potluck dishes, the thoughtful conversations, and the spirit of togetherness that filled the room. Because of you, the vision for Church of the Mountains is being woven with love, faith, and possibility. |
