It’s official! What was once a dream (and a lot of hard work!) is now a reality! Thanks to the tireless efforts, dedication, and love of our church community, we have transformed the Sipes Parsonage  into a truly beautiful space.

Please join us on Saturday, August 29, at 10:00 AM as we gather for the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Sipes Parsonage renovation.

Together, we’ll mark this special milestone with:

• The Official Ribbon Cutting

• A Walk-About Tour to see the incredible transformation firsthand

• A Moment of Thanksgiving & Blessing for all who gave their time, talent, and energy to this project

• Light Refreshments & Fellowship

Come take a look around, celebrate what we’ve accomplished together, and help us kick off this exciting new chapter for our church family!

With the Parsonage Ribbon Cutting just a week away on August 29, we are putting the finishing touches on the property - and we need a little extra horsepower to cross the finish line!

We’re hosting a quick, one-hour volunteer push on Saturday, August 22, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM to spread fresh wood chips throughout the backyard and make the space shine for our grand opening.

What to Bring:

• Work gloves

• Flat shovels or metal rake (if you have one!)

• Wheelbarrows (if available)

What: Truckee Railyard Hotel Appeal Town Council Review

Location: Council Chambers, Town Hall (10183 Truckee Airport Road)

The Town Council will be reviewing the appeal for the Truckee Railyard Hotel project, which will sit directly behind Church of the Mountains, and we need community members to share their perspectives!

Whether you attend in person to speak during public comments or submit your thoughts in writing beforehand, your feedback plays a crucial role in having our voices and perspectives heard.

How You Can Participate:

• Attend in Person: Join us at Town Hall on Tuesday, August 25 at 5:00 PM to give a public comment directly to the Town Council.
• Submit Written Comments: If you can’t make it in person, you can submit public comments ahead of time by clicking the link below to send an email to the Principal Planner Yumie Dahn (ydahn@townoftruckee.gov)

Looking to get your day off to a great start? Join Lisa McCready for an early morning hike this week! It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy some fresh air, beautiful scenery, and great company before the day gets busy.  

When: Wednesday, August 26th, 8:00-9:30am 

Where to Meet: North side of Truckee River Trail starting at the Affeldt Bridge near east end of East River Street at parking lot. 

Trail: Uneven single track crossing Railroad and heading parallel to Glenshire Drive with generally flat but very rocky path, out and back.

Distance: Approximately 3-4 miles

What to Bring: Water, a sun hat, and sturdy walking shoes. (Pups are welcome, too! )

We have some sweet news to share! At our recent Alpenglow service, we had the joy of officially welcoming Esther and Jan Stearns as new members of Church of the Mountains.  

 It was such a special evening, and we are so grateful they’ve decided to put down roots with us. Their warmth and presence are already a true blessing to everyone around them.   

 When you see Esther and Jan around the sanctuary, at our upcoming community gatherings, or during fellowship hour, please take a moment to introduce yourself, offer a warm smile, and give them a heartfelt Church of the Mountains welcome.   We are just so thrilled to have Esther and Jan with us on this journey.
