Message from Pastor Rebecca

Friends,

Last Sunday, we read Psalm 133 in worship, a psalm that extols the blessings the come when families live in harmony. Some of us were fortunate enough to be born into such a family. Some of us had to create our own family. And some of us are still looking for one. As we think about the future of this congregation, let’s keep in the forefront of our minds the people we know who do not have a family that knows how to live together and love each other. We could make a world of difference for them. So, let’s make a plan to invite them in. I told you that I write paraphrases for some of my favorite psalms. Here is my take on

Psalm 133:
God, it’s so good
when the family gets along
when our elders are at peace
when our brothers and sisters live in harmony.
It’s like coffee in the pot
soup on the stove
and fresh bread from the oven.
It fills the whole house with delicious,
makes the mouth water
and the soul sing.
Like manna falling from heaven,
gather it up every morning.
Don’t hoard it or
it will spoil on you.
Share it
and the blessing will come back to you.
