Bringing Back a Beautiful Tradition: Community Peace Gathering April 21
Truckee friends, we’re reviving something special at Church of the Mountains. For years, our Peace Pole has stood as a quiet landmark at our entrance—now, it’s time to gather around it once again. We’re inviting everyone—and we truly mean everyone—to join us for a brief, interfaith Community Peace Gathering. In a world that often feels loud and divided, this is a simple, unifying nonpolitical moment to slow down and signify our shared commitment to nonviolence and peace, both here in our local community and across the globe. The DetailsWhen: Tuesday April 21, 5:30 - 6:00pm Location: We'll meet outdoors right by the Peace Pole at the church entrance Whether you’ve been part of this tradition before or this is your first time visiting us, we would love to see you there. Let’s show up for each other and for the idea that peace is always worth the effort. All are welcome. We’ll see you by the pole. |

Grow Our Mission as the Heart of Truckee: Join the Growing Together Campaign
Our church has always grown through the care and commitment of this community. Today, we invite you to be part of that tradition through our Growing Together Campaign, an effort to complete the renovation of the historic Sipes Parsonage. Located next to our church, the Sipes Parsonage has long been part of our campus and our story. The next phase of the renovation focuses on the exterior of the home, including new windows, updated siding, improvements to the back deck, and added insulation to protect and preserve the building for years to come. To help make this possible, we are looking for donors who feel called to support the project by giving a one-time gift of any amount or $100 per month for one year. These steady gifts will help us complete this important work and ensure the parsonage continues to serve our church and the Truckee community. Click on the button below to donate or visit our website. You can also send a check to Kathleen Zemaitis, Finance Chair, Church of the Mountains, PO Box 1209, Truckee CA 96160 or contact Kathleen at kathleen.zemaitis@gmail.com. (Church of the Mountains is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our Tax ID number is 94-2557398.) The Growing Together Campaign is about more than restoring a building — it’s about growing our community and investing in the future of our church at the heart of Truckee. We are grateful for your support as we work together to complete this meaningful project and grow together!

Truckee Literary Crawl Warms the Heart at Church of the Mountains
It was pretty chilly in Truckee for this year’s Literary Crawl, but the Church of the Mountains ended up being the perfect spot to defrost. There’s something about a historic space filled with people sharing stories that just feels right - it turned into a really warm, cozy escape from the cold. Watching authors and listeners connect over intimate readings was definitely the highlight. It was one of those days that reminds you how much community and creativity can actually brighten things up, even when the weather isn't cooperating. Huge thanks to everyone who swung by and made the afternoon so special. We loved hosting this, and honestly, we’re already looking forward to the next one!
