Letter from the Mayor of Truckee to COM
Dear Members of the Church of the Mountains Congregation and Leadership,
On behalf of myself and the Truckee Town Council, thank you for your deeply moving public comment and your strong support of our Pride Month proclamation.
As a cornerstone of Truckee for over 150 years, your congregation beautifully demonstrates what it means to lead with active hospitality through your hands-on work with Truckee Pride and the Annual Pride Community Breakfast. As you perfectly noted, our town is changing and growing rapidly, and this evolution underscores the vital need to anchor ourselves in empathy.
To meet this moment intentionally, the Town is heavily focused on expanding our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Program. Through our formal IDEA Action Plan, we are working to embed these principles into the very fabric of local government—from standardizing language access to ensuring all community engagement frameworks prioritize underrepresented voices. Our goal is to ensure that as Truckee grows bigger, our institutional practices explicitly foster a permanent sense of safety, value, and belonging.
It is the shared vision between the Town’s structural IDEA initiatives and the enduring, inclusive spirit of community anchors like Church of the Mountains that will ensure Truckee remains a place where diversity is our greatest strength.
With gratitude,
Anna Klovstad
Mayor
Town of Truckee

Pride Alpenglow Sanctuary Evening Service Sunday June 7: An Evening of Healing and Affirmation
As the sun sets over the Sierra and the mountains are painted in the warm, enduring hues of alpenglow, we gather to hold a sacred space of healing, reflection, and radical belonging. For many in the Pride community, the relationship with church and faith has been a source of deep pain, exclusion, and heavy burdens. This Pride Week, Church of the Mountains wants to say clearly: You are beloved exactly as you are, and your story matters! Pride Alpenglow Sanctuary is a special evening service dedicated entirely to healing. It’s a reflective and meditative service with gentle space, music, candle lighting, shared silence, and words of affirmation. For anyone seeking to mend a fractured relationship with faith, want to sit in quiet solidarity, gather with our community, or simply need a safe place to rest your heart, you are welcome here. 5:00pm Social and snacks 5:30pm Reflective service Come as you are. Wear what makes you comfortable. Bring your grief, your hope, your anger, or your joy—all of it is sacred. |

The Women’s Bible Study group and Prayer NetJoin us every Monday 10-11am at Church of the Mountains (weather and road conditions permitting) Judy Jensen, the group leader welcomes everyone to participate. We read and discuss the books we have chosen in an informal discussion and look forward to spending time and sharing our faith with one another. We pray as an introduction to our study—and we close with prayer. Our group are also members of the Prayer Net and welcome requests that come to us through the larger church body. Any questions? Church Giving is Easy
At Church of the Mountains, our ministry is made possible through the generous support of our community. Your gifts help sustain meaningful worship, inspiring music, outreach to our neighbors, and a welcoming space where all are invited to gather, reflect, and grow. Every contribution—large or small—supports the life of our church: from caring ministries and community events to maintaining our historic sanctuary and creating opportunities for connection and spiritual renewal. Together, we are nurturing a place of hope, beauty, and belonging in the heart of our mountain community. Thank you for supporting the ministry of Church of the Mountains and for being part of all that God is doing here. We are deeply grateful for your faithfulness and generosity.
