You're Invited: Church Visioning Session & Potluck – Sunday, August 10
Join us after worship on Sunday, August 10 from 11:45 AM to 2:00 PM for an important and inspiring Visioning Session as we reflect on who we are and where God is calling Church of the Mountains in the seasons ahead. This will be a time of sharing hopes, listening deeply, and dreaming together about the future of our ministry, community outreach, and spiritual life. We'll gather over a potluck lunch, so please bring a dish to share if you're able. All are welcome—whether you're brand new or have been here for years. Your voice matters! Let’s shape the future of Church of the Mountains together! |

Message from Pastor Rebecca
I have been here just one month and already the leadership of both Church of the Mountains (COM) and Truckee Lutheran Presbyterian Church (TLP) congregations have scheduled mini retreats to envision this “new thing” that God wants to do at TLPC and COM. I have a sense that you’ve been waiting a while and that many of you are anxious to make a move, and that’s a good sign! Church of the Mountains leadership will meet for a potluck lunch and planning session after church tomorrow - Sunday, August 10. TLPC Council will have their retreat after the COM service on August 17. Both churches have done good work in the past to chart a way into the future. But we now need to revisit and revise those plans and make concrete commitments to implement them. And because it is important that we approach these conversations with compassion and humility, I offer to you a prayer in the style of the Prayer of St. Francis as we prepare to listen to each other and to God’s leading when we meet: Lord, make us an instrument of your will; where there are many motivations, give us a common mission; where there are vested interests, grant us a larger vision; where there is meandering, gentle re-direction; where there is disagreement, respectful dialogue; where there is politics, lots of prayer. Gracious God, let us not so much seek to be served as to serve; to have our own way as to follow your Way; to be seen and heard as to see and hear. For it is in listening that we learn; it is in openness that we find new opportunity; it is in diversity that we find the strength of our unity; it is in the giving of ourselves that we create true community; and it is in loving others that we come to know the awesome power of your love. Amen. Faithfully, Pastor Rebecca (415)505-6237 |

In Case You Missed It: Full Circle Love: Back Where It All Began
In case you missed our social media post, we had a delightful surprise at Church of the Mountains this week. Fourteen years ago, Eric and Julie stood at the altar of Church of the Mountains and said “I do.” This past week—exactly 14 years to the day—they returned to the very spot where their journey as husband and wife began. Together, they recited their vows once more, and our historic church bell rang out in celebration—just as it did on their wedding day—filling the air with joy and memories. It was a beautiful reminder that our church isn’t just a building—it’s a place where love, faith, and community weave together in the most meaningful ways |
