Showing Up for Love: Church of the Mountains Featured in Sierra Sun for Pride Week

Showing Up for Love: Church of the Mountains Featured in Sierra Sun for Pride Week

It is so powerful to see how our community actively chooses to show up for love, and a beautiful testament to this was featured in the Sierra Sun coverage of Truckee Pride Week.

The feature highlighted Church of the Mountains as a vital hub of radical belonging and interfaith support during the festivities. By opening its doors to host events like the Pride Shabbat—providing a welcoming space for the Tahoe Jewish Community—as well as the Pride Community Breakfast and the reflective Pride Alpenglow Sanctuary, the church demonstrated what active, inclusive love looks like in action.

Historically, faith spaces and rural mountain towns haven't always felt safe or affirming for the LGBTQ+ community. By stepping out of traditional routines to host these events, Church of the Mountains proved that it isn’t just a historic landmark in the heart of downtown, but a living example of community connection. It shows that when we choose to "draw the circle wide," we create spaces where everyone is seen, valued, and celebrated exactly as they are.

The Women’s Bible Study group and Prayer Net

Join us every Monday 10-11am at Church of the Mountains (weather and road conditions permitting)

Judy Jensen, the group leader welcomes everyone to participate.

We read and discuss the books we have chosen in an informal discussion and look forward to spending time and sharing our faith with one another. We pray as an introduction to our study—and we close with prayer.

Our group are also members of the Prayer Net and welcome requests that come to us through the larger church body.

Church Giving is Easy

Church Giving is Easy

At Church of the Mountains, our ministry is made possible through the generous support of our community. Your gifts help sustain meaningful worship, inspiring music, outreach to our neighbors, and a welcoming space where all are invited to gather, reflect, and grow.

Every contribution—large or small—supports the life of our church: from caring ministries and community events to maintaining our historic sanctuary and creating opportunities for connection and spiritual renewal. Together, we are nurturing a place of hope, beauty, and belonging in the heart of our mountain community.

Thank you for supporting the ministry of Church of the Mountains and for being part of all that God is doing here. We are deeply grateful for your faithfulness and generosity.
