A Message From Pastor Rebecca

A Message From Pastor Rebecca

We are working our way through the first article of the Apostles’ Creed and this Sunday’s theme is “almighty,” as in “I believe in God the Father almighty….”

It is typical for Christians to ascribe to God all the power in the universe, but that raises a lot of questions: If God is so powerful, why is the world such a mess? Or, as Rabbi Kushner famously said, “Why do bad things happen to good people?” If God has all the power, does that mean that we have none? What is divine power and how does God exercise it? And is there any way for us to influence it?

If you think I’m going to provide the answers to these questions, you have a higher opinion of me than I do! But wrestling with the question of power is something all Christians do. Misunderstanding God’s power can lead to
crushing disappointment or tremendous abuse, as the history of Christianity attests. So, it is vitally important that we learn from Scripture and each other how to understand God’s power and how we can be healed by it.

I hope you’ll join us for another dialogue sermon on the Creed and if you haven't completed your commitment card online, please bring your commitment forms to worship this Sunday.  We'll have some extra on hand if you need one!

November Is Stewardship Month: Celebrating a Campus Renewed

November Is Stewardship Month: Celebrating a Campus Renewed

This Stewardship Month, we’re giving thanks for the incredible ways your time, talent, and treasure are transforming our church campus into a vibrant, welcoming home for all who walk through our doors.

Because of your dedication and generosity, exciting things are happening everywhere you look:

Our Parsonage Is Coming Back to Life
Volunteers have poured countless hours into revitalizing the Sipes Parsonage so Pastor Rebecca, Hank and Sophie can move into a warm, welcoming home. Your work is not only restoring a building—it’s restoring a tradition of pastoral presence in our community.

A Church Home Beautiful and Inviting
Painting, cleaning, fixing, organizing—your hands and hearts are creating worship and gathering spaces that truly reflect the love and hospitality of our congregation.

Gardens Growing in Beauty
Our gardens are blooming once again! From the front walk to the backyard, volunteers have shaped spaces that bring joy to all who pass by. These grounds now sing with color, care, and new life.

The Danforth Cottage: Soon Workforce Housing
Another incredible milestone: the Danforth Cottage is being prepared to serve as workforce housing—an act of stewardship not just for our church, but for our wider community.

Every project, every hour given, every gift offered is helping renew our campus and strengthen the ministry we share. This is stewardship in action—living out our faith through care, commitment, and compassion.

Thank you for helping us build a beautiful, functional, and hope-filled campus for today and the years to come.

Watch our new video to see how your gifts are making a real difference and bringing our mission to life!

As we look ahead to another year of ministry, please take a moment to fill out your Commitment Card — either during Sunday Worship or online here. Your commitment helps us plan, dream, and continue growing in love and service together.

Be Part of Bringing Our New Evening Service to Life!

We’re excited to share that we’re launching a new Evening Worship Service — designed for those who long to gather in worship and community but find that Sunday mornings don’t fit their schedules. This new service will offer a relaxed, welcoming space to connect with God and one another at a different time of day.

We’re in the early stages of planning and would love your help! If you’re interested in joining the committee to help bring this vision to life — from music and hospitality to outreach and planning — we’d love to have you on board.

And if you’d like to attend once the service begins, let us know! We’ll keep you updated as we finalize the launch date. Together, we can create another meaningful way to worship and grow in faith.

A More Accessible Campus: Celebrating Our New Stairlift Installation

A More Accessible Campus: Celebrating Our New Stairlift Installation

We are excited to share a meaningful milestone in our ongoing effort to make our church a place where everyone feels welcomed, supported, and included. This month, we installed a new stairlift, an important step forward in ensuring that our campus is fully accessible to all members of our community.

This addition reflects our deep commitment to being an inclusive church—one that not only speaks about hospitality but builds it into our physical spaces. By improving ADA accessibility, we’re creating a safer, more comfortable experience for individuals with mobility challenges, older adults, and anyone who needs a little extra support getting around our campus.

The stairlift is more than a piece of equipment—it is a tangible sign of who we are and who we strive to be:
A congregation where everyone belongs, where barriers are removed, and where every person has the opportunity to participate fully in worship, fellowship, and service.

Heads Up in the Fellowship Hall!

Heads Up in the Fellowship Hall!

As we continue the Sipes Parsonage renovation project, we’ll be temporarily storing appliances and building materials in the Fellowship Hall throughout November.

Please use extra care when moving through the area — and thank you for your patience and understanding as we make space for this exciting project!

We can’t wait to see the finished home come together — and we’re so grateful for everyone’s help and flexibility along the way.

Help Us Spread the Word—Musicians Wanted!
